SENIOR LIFEGUARDS
(Temporary, Part-time)
Parkland County has Temporary, Part-time Summer Positions available at the
Entwistle Outdoor Pool for Senior Lifeguard from approximately May 5 to August 31, 2012. Reporting to the Pool Supervisor, you will:
- -Lifeguard while maintaining a high quality of supervision, correct unsafe activities and ensure the safe use of equipment at all times.
- -Instruct swimming lessons and develop lesson plans for all assigned classes, following the guidelines provided by the Canadian Red Cross or Lifesaving Society and provide quality instructions to all participants.
- -Perform facility maintenance including cleaning the pool and all attached facilities.
- -Maintain good water quality through water tests and chemical additions.
- -Respond to and assist in the promotion of accident and incident prevention through rule enforcement and good maintenance practices in accordance with provincial and local public health regulations and Aquatic Safety Standards.
- -Perform administrative duties including taking admissions, processing course registration and answering customer inquiries.
- -Possess excellent problem solving, multitasking, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with difficult situations and customer complaints with confidence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- -Standard First Aid with Level C CPR or Aquatic Emergency Care is required
- -Minimum Lifeguard Certifications: National Lifeguard Services; Oxygen Administration is an asset

- -Minimum Instructor Certifications: Water Safety Instructor; Advanced Instructor Awards is an asset

- -Successful completion of an approved swimming pool operator’s training program is an asset
- -Follows and role models Aquatic Safety Standards
- -Current Security Clearance Check is required prior to start of employment, completed at employee’s expense
- -Experience handling cash is an asset
