Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide a leadership role in health and safety for Cypress County and function as a “consultant” resource to the departments and to all personnel in order to establish a program for the effective management and control of the County’s health and safety program.
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, safe working procedures, hazard control systems and a comprehensive training program for all employees and contractors.
- Function as a liaison with all other agencies in matters of health and safety.
- Be informed of all current federal and provincial health and safety legislation, regulations and procedures.
Job Specifications:
- Completion of post secondary education in the field of health and safety, diploma or certificate. Minimum 2 years experience as a safety officer, or a combination of relevant education and experience in the health and safety field.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial health and safety statues.
- Have good organizational skills and able to maintain accurate work records; perform duties effectively with minimum supervision; average computer knowledge and experience.
- Have a valid class 5 drivers license and current standard first aid certificate.
Cypress County offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The hours of employment are and 8:00AM to 4:30PM (40 hour workweek), Monday through Friday. The candidate may be required to work overtime if necessary.
